CUKashmir’s DITSS kick-starts 2-day workshop on ICT tools
Ganderbal, June 10: The Directorate of Information Technology and System Support (DITSS), Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) Monday kick-started a two-day capacity building workshop on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) tools for the teaching and administrative staff of the varsity at Tulmulla campus.
Inaugurating the workshop, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, said the effective use of ICT tools in teaching-learning and smooth administrative functioning is the need of the hour. “The programme aims to equip participants with essential digital skills and knowledge to empower them in a digitally-driven environment. In today’s digital age, the staff’s ability to use ICT tools proficiently is crucial for the smooth operation and success of higher educational institutions,” he said. Prof. A Ravinder Nath added that “with the rapid advancement of technology, it is imperative for the university staff to remain abreast with latest digital and technological trends to support the institution’s mission of academic excellence and innovation.” The CUKashmir Vice-Chancellor, asked the participants to continuously update and upgrade their IT skills, as the information technology sector is extremely dynamic in nature.
Speaking on the occasion, I/c Dean Academic Affairs, and Dean School of Legal Studies, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, emphasized the importance of the workshop and said, “In today’s digital age, proficiency in ICT tools is not just an added advantage, but a necessity.” Prof. Farooq further said the ICT tools have impacted all the spheres of life, adding that by integrating technology into its operations and educational offerings, the university aims to prepare its staff and students for the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly evolving digital landscape. He further said the university is committed to continuous professional development of the teaching and administrative staff.
In her welcome address, Director, ITSS, Dr. Rana Hashmi, said the workshop is part of the university’s ongoing commitment to foster a technologically adept workforce that can leverage digital tools to improve administrative efficiency, and overall performance. She said that during the workshop, the participants will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies designed to foster interactive learning environments, streamline administrative processes, and support research activities. Dr. Hashmi added that participants also will engage in practical exercises to apply their new skills in real-time scenarios.
System Analyst, Mr. Muhammad Irfan conducted the inaugural proceedings and Sr. Technical Asst, Mr. Umar Bashir proposed the vote of thanks.
Thereafter technical sessions were held to apprise the participants about different ICT tools.
