J&K Hotelier Club Calls on Chief Secretary and Secretary Tourism, J&K Government Today

29 May:- The J&K Hoteliers Club Delegation, under the chairmanship of Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, met with Mr. Atul Dullo, Chief Secretary J&K Government, and Secretary Tourism Yasha Mudgal at the Civil Secretariat. During the meeting, the delegation discussed several pressing issues faced by the hospitality sector:1.Renewal of Hotel Registrations: The delegation emphasized the urgent need for the renewal of hotel registrations. They highlighted that hotels that have been in business for many years should not be required to submit the same documents as those for fresh registrations. The current lack of renewal poses significant risks to the properties of hoteliers. The delegation sought the personal intervention of the Chief Secretary to resolve this matter promptly and ensure that renewals are issued without delay.2.Ease of Doing Business in Tourism Industry: The delegation welcomed the inclusion of the tourism industry in the industrial policy as part of the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) sector. They requested that the registration process for this sector be simplified, in line with the promises of ease of doing business.3. Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims:The delegation expressed their readiness to receive Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims and noted that security measures for the pilgrims through Pahalgam and Sonamarg are being implemented by the government. They requested that bonafide tourists with reservations in these areas not be inconvenienced and that their reservation slips be treated as passes for entry at any time.4.Renewal of Leases in Gulmarg and Boulevard Area of Srinagar: The delegation addressed the pending issue of lease renewals in the Gulmarg area. They requested that, until the matter is resolved, hoteliers be allowed to maintain the interiors of their properties. This request also applies to the Boulevard area of Srinagar.5.Emergency Services in Sonamarg: The delegation stressed the need for fire fighters and emergency ambulance services in Sonamarg to prevent casualties and mishaps. They also requested that the Building Operations Controlling Authority (BOCA) meeting be held at the earliest in Sonamarg.6.Support from J&K Bank: The delegation sought support for the business community regarding issues related to J&K Bank NPA Accounts and through One-Time Settlement (OTS) schemes.The meeting aimed to address these critical issues and seek immediate action from the authorities to support the hospitality sector in J&K.Meeting were attended by Mushtaq Chaya Chairman J&K Hotelier Club, Senior Vice Chairman Riyaz Ahmad Shahdad, Secretary General Tariq Ghani, Sonamarg President Farooq Hafiz, Manzoor Wangnoo Environment Chairman, Nazir Mir Treasurer.Secretary General Tariq Ghani extends heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Secretary and Secretary Tourism for their attentive and patient hearing of our grievances.
