Kashmir Girl Goes to Top US University on Fully Funded Scholarship
[SRINAGAR: A downtown girl has made a mark for herself by securing a fully funded scholarship for a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at a US university. Nineteen-year-old Furkan Jan, a resident of Srinagar’s Rainawari area, has earned admission to the University of Arizona for Fall 2024 in Political Science in the College of Social and Behavioral Science
.Furkan studied at Presentation Convent School, Rajbagh until class ten and later attended Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothi Bagh. “I met incredible teachers who guided me throughout,” Furkan said, crediting her teachers for her success.
During her higher secondary years, Furkan completed three internships and volunteer work. “It was a youth-run internship where I participated in MUN conferences across multiple cities in India and in Srinagar. My conferences saw significant delegation participation and were supported by around five sponsors,” she explained.Furkan has always excelled academically. “I secured good marks in my 12th standard,” she said.Her father is a businessman, and her mother is a professor. “They have always supported me,” Furkan added.In addition to the University of Arizona, she has also been accepted for a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations at Asia Pacific University, Malaysia.Furkan applied for admission to multiple universities across the USA and Asia.
